14+ years at the same agency isn’t normal. I’m not normal. I’m self taught, personally curious, happily chaotic and acutely aware. My first boss, no joke, asked me if I’d seen The Devil Wears Prada (I lied of course, yes!). He followed with a line that I appreciate to this day. “I’m Meryl Streep and you’re the intern.” I watched the movie, and the intern won in the end, and Meryl Streep was an asshole.
Everyone should work for an asshole at least once, it helps you recognize when you’re being one.
